HIV/AIDS PREVENTION and SUPPORT
Nsanja and the neighbouring communities have been greatly
affected by HIV/AIDS. Hundreds of family breadwinners and mothers have lost
their lives due HIV related death. Those who have tested positive become
helpless and need support from families and the community. Through our well-organised
programs and with involvement of both local and international volunteers,
CODEAPS has registered success in reaching out to these People living with
HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).
CODEAPS administers HIV testing which is performed in
conjunction with counseling. Counseling is available to all CODEAPS clients and
families at anytime. Members of Village Health Teams (VHTs) are
trained in counseling and health care to aid the HIV+ clients and
their families. There is at least one VHT member
in each town where CODEAPS clients live.
Besides counseling, CODEAPS also provides material and financial
to clients and their families. We provide financial support for clients to be
able to travel to health care providers and to purchase medicines such as
ARVs. CODEAPS provides material support through food or other essential
supplies.
